Team 4 Gone
is a non-profit, coed cycling team participating in the Insight Race Across America (RAAM) in June 2008. The RAAM is the longest
running ultra-distance bicycle endurance race in the world. This televised race begins in Oceanside, California and ends 3008
miles later in Annapolis, Maryland.
In our quest
to complete this grueling transcontinental race we will champion the Snowball Express,
a non-profit organization that helps bring joy to the lives of the children and spouses of those military men and women who
have paid the ultimate sacrifice since September 11, 2001. Team 4 Gone will ride to raise awareness and
financial support for this most worthy of causes.
Our team is made up of 4 cyclists, and 19 highly motivated support personnel who are absolutely crucial to our success.
Our teammates hail from all across the United States, from California to Texas to Maryland. Most are either Active duty, Retired
or former military personnel. All are intimately aware of and profoundly humbled by the sacrifices of our
fallen heroes. We can think of no better charity, nor a more worthy cause than that of the Snowball
Express.
We will depart
Oceanside, CA on 11 June 2008 and ride 24/7, rain or shine until we cross the finish line in Annapolis, MD. Our goal is to
beat our 2006 RAAM finishing time of 7 days, 16 hours and 50 minutes.
Help us help the Snowball Express by volunteering your time
or making a donation. Track
our progress as we peddle across the U.S., at www.raceacrossamerica.org, or better yet, catch up with us at
one of the time stations along the route and meet some of the remarkable families of the Snowball
Express.
